THE WITCHERY

Nicola Lambo appears to have a merry time narrating this debut novel. In Florida, Logan, a new white student at a magical girls' boarding school, finds an instant bond with three Black returning students. The girls are determined to break the town's curse and join with two boys from a nearby boys' school. The story is told from their six points of view, and the use of so many perspectives takes a bit of getting to. Lambo uses multiple accents to establish the characters and their personalities. To tell this fast-paced story, Lambo has a lot of moments of suspense to handle. There are quiet moments as well between various combinations of the friends, and then Lambo is off and running again in the race against time.
