Narrator JD Jackson's voice sounds lighthearted as Prince T'Challa (aka Black Panther) enjoys the nightlife of New York and the company of singer Monica Lynn. Jackson creates a soft yet persuasive voice for Monica and a faster, chiding voice for T'Challa's sister Shuri. All that quickly gives way to seriousness as Black Panther returns to Wakanda to stand up to a revolution. The story has familiar pulse-pounding Marvel touches with skeletons rising from the earth and even a T. rex. The chants for Killmonger, T'Challa's adversary, sound ominous and eerie. Listeners will hear introspection in T'Challa's words and thoughts as he considers whether revolution means he has let his people down. In this way, the audiobook is a bit different from the movies and comic books. J.A.S. © AudioFile 2023, Portland, Maine [Published: FEBRUARY 2023]
