Adam Verner superbly narrates Allan Bloom's translation of Plato's classic discussion of what makes for a just society and the best form of government. Plato's best-known work has been influential for almost 2,500 years and will probably be so for 2,500 more. The work is structured as a Socratic dialogue--the philosopher asks questions, and discussion follows. While Verner does not give the different personae unique voices, his skill is such that the listener can easily follow the discussions. His delivery is perfect--pacing, intonation, and enunciation are all spot-on. His resonant deep voice is winsome and, overall, makes this a splendid listening experience.
