David Chandler returns to narrate the nineteenth book in his series featuring Cork O'Connor, now a private investigator in remote northern Minnesota. He is hired to find a missing woman by a man he suspects is posing as her husband. Chandler's measured voice paints a picture of the stalwart investigator as his search takes him deep into the woods, where hundred-year-old Native healer Henry Meloux has led the woman for her safety. Another Native American man who is tracking the pair on behalf of the villains is voiced so similarly to Meloux that the many conversations between them are difficult to follow. Otherwise, Chandler's narration serves the story well as he leads listeners through O'Connor's efforts to prevent international disaster.
