Emily Woo Zeller narrates an unusual historical mystery in which an immortal girl investigates a series of murders in China in the year 1930. Rosalind cannot die, thanks to a strange serum that makes her immortal but also unable to sleep. She is swept up in the political machinations of a growing civil war and is partnered with a spy. Zeller misses a few of the pronunciations, but those minor missteps are overshadowed by an overall stellar performance. Rosalind and her partner, Orion, are brought to life. Her portrayal of Rosalind is especially strong, with her voice perfectly matching the character's world-weary nature to a tee.
