This intriguing mystery features real-life artist Georgia O'Keeffe and her Ghost Ranch in the New Mexico desert. When O'Keeffe sets out into the early morning desert to look for bleached animal bones, what she finds instead is a murdered priest. This complication sets in motion a series of events that initially pit the artist's eye against that of the local sheriff. The large cast of characters includes clergy, local Indigenous people, and the Lindberghs. Peterson uses subtly modified inflections to denote the various characters as the story weaves details of the painter's life with intriguing fictional adventures.
