Maraniss, a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, has written a thorough, incisive and balanced biography of President Clinton. He paints a compelling portrait of a complex man who is, above all, a political animal. Jeff Riggenbach gives a clear, direct reading well suited to the book. He moves the fascinating narrative along at just the right pace, keeping the listener involved without rushing. Pauses between sections and chapters are long enough to establish a change of subject, but short enough not to distract. This is an example of biography at its best: an interesting subject, a talented author, and a narrator who maintains a strong and distinct narrative voice, which compels the listener to continue.
