THE HUNTER

Rebecca Lowman's narration infuses just the right amount of world-weariness into the character of NYPD Detective Leigh O'Donnell. Having sabotaged her career and her marriage, Leigh returns home to Cooper Falls, Ohio, at her brother's request to help solve the mysterious drownings of three men. As she uncovers clues, she finds herself delving into her town's storied past, including myths revolving around its underground caves and a similar trio of drownings. Lowman's measured cadence and pacing perfectly embody the sense of being caught in an inescapable past. Lowman skillfully voices all the characters, including a trio of fun-loving uncles, a playful 4-year-old, and the town's mysterious old woman who knows far more than she's telling.
