Kidnapped as a young child, Victoria, now 18, has become a Wildblood, a guide with magical powers who can protect gold miners who venture into the Jamaican jungle. This YA fantasy is delightfully narrated by Kerri McLean. She fully embodies the young Victoria as she explains why she is driven to become the Wildbloods' leader after having been passed over by her boss. McLean shows a softer side of Victoria as she falls hard for Thorn, a new client, so listeners will be shocked when Thorn's assistant bribes her to arrange for Thorn to die. Victoria's grief at the deaths of two teammates and rage at her dismissive boss are heartfelt, as portrayed by McLean. Rivalries disappear when the tour group battles demons in the jungle.
