FLYING AFRICANS

McGill presents a superb collection of both African and African-American folktales intertwined with original stories drawn from her African-American heritage. Included are two Brer Rabbit tales. Interspersed with the stories are short songs. McGill's voice, husky and haunting, is an instrument used to full effect in both story and song. In a style reminiscent of Susan Klein, McGill employs voice modulation and differentiates characters with vocal sound effects.
