SOME PEOPLE HAVE REAL PROBLEMS

Tessa Thompson's expressive voice captures the main character in this short story. An unnamed woman is riding the train to another fertility appointment with her husband, Jack. During this challenging time in her life, she is pulling away from the person she's closest to and dreaming of how things might have been different in an alternate universe. The captivating Thompson delivers the thoughts the woman doesn't say out loud--regrets for past mistakes, fantasies of former lovers, and even self-censure for her complaints about life's difficulties. Thompson handles the critical voice the woman uses against herself especially well. This quick story will have listeners seeing into its main character--and perhaps seeing some of themselves.
