Narrator Amy McFadden brings the listener to Mariner's Island, where the body of a 12-year-old girl who went missing 20 years earlier has just been found. McFadden's performance conveys all of Cam's impassioned claims of innocence. Listeners will have no trouble distinguishing each character. Ariana has always been in love with Cam, and their blooming relationship is hindered by Cam's soon-to-be ex-wife. McFadden is particularly adept at her portrayal of Cam's wife, giving her a bitchy voice that has the listener empathizing with him.
