Heather Duffy, narrator of this audiobook and best friend of Anne Heche, has the unenviable task of performing the late actor's second memoir. Part personal history and part self-help guide, the work covers Heche's childhood sexual assault; her relationship with her ex-girlfriend, Ellen DeGeneres; and other personal experiences. It also captures the poetry and practices that helped her get through the most difficult times in her life. Duffy captures Heche's words with skill and raw emotion. She performs this audiobook with the empathy it deserves, but one still wonders what it would have been like to hear Heche perform the book herself before she passed away so tragically in a car accident.
