Narrator Justine Eyre does a great job bringing to life this romantic story full of twists and turns. She injects the right degree of emotional nuance into both the dialogue and the narrative. This is the first audiobook in the new series called The Gambler's Daughters, which follows three sisters who are trying to make their way in high society. Dara, the middle sister, is convinced that she and her sisters can catch dukes, and she persuades them to go to London for the Season. But when politician Michael Brogen gets involved, it changes everything, especially her carefully laid plans. Eyre's accent and manner result in a pleasing performance of this historical romance. Listeners will be transported. A.P.D. © AudioFile 2023, Portland, Maine [Published: JUNE 2023]
