Laurel Lefkow brings a sophisticated blend of urgency, terror, and good-old-fashioned never-say-die moxie to this mash-up of speculative medical horror and sci-fi psychological drama. Lefkow is excellent at finding the strength, humor, and tension in the main characters' dialogue, especially in the voice of Rapscallion the Robot. There's also plenty of sprawling world-building.
