Meghan Kelly is one such narrator who animates both human and feline characters. This story features Ellie and her special-needs daughter, Evie, who run a cat shelter in rural Texas. Together, they get caught up in a murder investigation. They are aided by a talking cat, Belladonna, who speaks with a vaguely English accent and an imperious manner. The mystery is satisfying, and there are some suspenseful moments, bits of humor, and a cast of both detestable and likable small-town personalities.
