Narrator Jack de Golia matches Hemingway's inimitable style in this collection of classic stories such as "Hills Like White Elephants," "The Killers," and two stories featuring Nick Adams. De Golia plays it tough with an edge of menace and tension in his delivery. These stories are from a different time, and some listeners may find depictions and terms upsetting. That's the way it was when Hemingway wrote about tough guys, abortion, and a bullfighter who is past his prime. However, de Golia doesn't shy away from the descriptions. His narration of "Fifty Grand" is outstanding, featuring the brutality of prizefighting.
