Timothy McKean's youthful voice has a friendly, almost innocent quality that works well to soften the hard edges of the author's systematic thinking about leadership. Ronald Glickman is a veteran chief information officer and was a programmer before that, so his ideas about how change occurs in organizations sound data oriented--the type of detailed thinking that will appeal to engineers but sound word-bound to social science types. Yet there is much wisdom in Glickman's formulations, useful distinctions in the way people embrace or resist change and helpful road maps for how to promote growth and productivity. McKean's amiable performance manages the interpretive challenges well and highlights the humanitarian spirit that comes across despite the technical patina of the author's formulas, algorithms, and conceptual parsings.
