When Anna and Peter leave London to start a new life in a gated community on the Scottish coast, their belief that they have found the perfect place is soon shattered. Imogen Church's stylish narration builds the tension in this unusual thriller as it soon becomes apparent that no one is who they appear to be. Her strong characterizations of both male and female characters helps build a cast of larger-than-life individuals, each with their own secret and backstory. In particular, Church's neutral characterization of "The Diarist" helps keep the identity of this person hidden until it is revealed at the story's climax.
