THE HOROSCOPE WRITER

Mara Wilson, James Babson, and Ryan Burke narrate this taut thriller. Bobby Frindley is hired at a failing newspaper as its horoscope writer. When very specific deadly horoscopes that are sent to the newspaper come true, he joins the investigation of Detectives Leslie Consorte and Therese Lapeyre. Burke captures the skepticism and then horror of down-on-his-luck Frindley as he comes to believe that the deadly horoscopes are targeting him. Babson voices the world-weary Consorte, who continually finds it difficult to follow the rules or to care about breaking them. Wilson makes his strict partner, Lapeyre, an appealing mix of smart, driven, and protective while infusing her with deep concern for her two partners.
