THE CURSE OF SAINTS The Curse of Saints, Part 1

Devon Sorvari narrates a fantasy with romantic elements. Aya is the Queen's Eyes, her spymaster and third in command. Will, Aya's rival, is the Queen's Enforcer and second in command. When the kingdom is threatened, Aya and Will must set aside their differences and work together to save it. At times, Sorvari's sometimes flat and unemotional delivery coupled with a very disjointed story makes for some difficulty in following the plot. But the character portrayals are strong. Although Aya is young to be in a position of power, she is smart and capable, and Sorvari captures her complicated feelings regarding her worth. Will is more opaque, as he is seen only from Aya's perspective, but Sorvari makes it clear why Aya is both attracted and frustrated by him.
