Listeners will know from the start of Hillary Huber's performance that Petal Woznewski is a smarty-pants. Huber brings a slightly sardonic tone to her narration that reflects the tough, closed-off Petal well. Petal's had a tough life. Now an anonymous writer has made the death of Petal's old friend the basis for the plot of her latest thriller. The book--which is too close to the truth--calls out Petal in a creepy accusatory way. She returns to her hometown of Madison, Wisconsin, to find out the "why" and the "who." Huber's narration is very good. She is quite expressive, a useful talent when an audiobook has as much focus on a single character as this one does. Huber makes this decent story even better.
