Comic Trevor Noah is the author and narrator of this delightful fable in four parts. A boy decides to run away from home with his beloved bear, rather than submit to the unreasonable bed-making and personal hygiene demands of his mother. Noah creates unique, kind voices for the boy, the bear, and the friends they meet in the uncut grass--a garden gnome, two snails, and a pile of coins. The pace is unhurried, and each encounter is a subtle lesson in conflict resolution. There are a few sound effects--rustling grass, a rumbling stomach, etc.--but they are largely unnecessary. Noah's gentle and thoughtful character voices are enough. Adult listeners will enjoy the introduction, too. L.T. © AudioFile 2024, Portland, Maine [Published: NOVEMBER 2024]
