The plot is not as surreal as the author's METAMORPHOSIS or some of his fables such as "Before the Law," but it is nevertheless a somewhat surreal set of adventures, places, and peoples that Karl endures. Pugh has a versatile voice, and he is able to affect a wide range of distinct and credible voices for individuals, male and female, who are from different regions and countries.
