Meghan Riordan Jarvis is honest and expressive as she describes her grief and therapy after her mother's death leaves her completely unmoored and unable to function. Jarvis, a therapist herself, had been in therapy before to process childhood trauma. She slowly climbs out of this new pain after entering the residential treatment facility she recommends to some of her patients. Jarvis is energetic, wry, and self-deprecating, with a slightly nasal appealing voice. When narrating times of tragedy, her voice has an appropriately grave undertone. At other times, she sounds like your best and most hilarious friend regaling you with stories that make everybody feel better. Jarvis draws the listener in close as she dispenses the important truth that sometimes we all need professional help. A.B. © AudioFile 2023, Portland, Maine [Published: DECEMBER 2023]
