THE GARDEN OF ABDUL GASAZI

by | Read by Jason Robards

Children • 35 min. • Book & Cassette • © 1979

Allan agrees to take care of the bad-mannered dog, Fritz, who loves to eat hats and tear up the furniture. When he runs off into the garden of retired magician, Mr. Gasazi, Allan is sure Fritz will be lost forever. Robards's resonant voice and wonderful saxophone accompaniment added to the already stunning illustrations of Van Allsburg's book, a Caldecott Honor winner, are a winning combination. Each character is described in a musical portrait as well as with Robards's rich and expressive tones. Although each could stand alone, they complement each other and delightfully enhance the book. The program exemplifies the quality that book and cassette programs can achieve, and it should serve as a model for others. R.F.W. ©AudioFile, Portland, Maine [Published: JAN 95]
