A pirate captain, portrayed with a perfect raspy brogue by English actor Sam Hazeldine, captures an unusual treasure, a beautiful, fiery woman with a past and a price on her head, voiced with a fine mix of defiance and yearning by Eleanor Tomilinson. Not surprisingly, a tempestuous "will-they-won't-they" romance is born. Shifting seamlessly from the ensemble dialogue onboard the ship to a richly written narrative delivered with a majestic air by Rosalyn Landor, the story swings from desire to grand plans to mutiny. The sounds of wind in the riggings and the crew calling from the yardarms, along with a fully orchestrated score, create a film-like atmosphere. Plus, there are salty language and sexy scenes to be heard. Quite the high seas adventure, indeed. B.P. © AudioFile 2024, Portland, Maine [Published: MARCH 2024]
