Listeners return to Coyote Canyon, Montana, as Amy McFadden tells the story of Jane Tanner and Kurt Elway. Jane is taking care of her elderly grandfather, who is suffering from dementia. She wants a baby and turns to Kurt for "assistance." McFadden brings out Jane's longing for a child, as well as her trepidation about making changes in her life. McFadden's performance aptly conveys Jane's confusions and ambivalence. Despite being five years younger than she is, Kurt has always liked Jane. McFadden gives Kurt a deep masculine voice, and a caring tone, as he and Jane try to work through their feelings.
