It makes sense that Christine Blasey Ford would want to narrate the audio version of her memoir about doing her civic duty to testify at the confirmation hearings for Brett Kavanaugh's nomination as a justice of the U.S. Supreme Court in 2018. She wants to "set the record straight," and the catharsis wouldn't be as complete if she hadn't been the narrator. She has a distinctive voice, as those who have listened to her testimony may remember. She speaks slowly and deliberately. She shows herself to be vulnerable and more than a bit naïve about what she got herself caught up in. As a longtime surfer, she finds it apt to analogize her experiences to surfing, a device that makes her story descriptive and uniquely hers.
