Karissa Vacker and Zachary Webber narrate a contemporary romance set in a small town in the Pacific Northwest. After a career meltdown, chef Fisher is offered another chance that temporarily relocates him and his teenage niece to Oregon. The job involves preparing a new restaurant for opening. Sage, a high school teacher, caretaker of displaced animals, and grower of flowers, loves small-town life. She and Fisher quickly develop a friendship that evolves into love despite the reality of Fisher's eventual departure. Vacker believably portrays all the characters from Sage's point of view, bringing listeners more deeply into the story. Juxtaposed with Vacker's performance, Webber, as Fisher, tends toward a disengaged voice with occasional bursts of emotion. Overall, this is an entertaining production.
