Helen Laser's narration style, crisp yet conversational, is a good choice for this murder mystery set in the north woods of Minnesota. Siblings Liv and Gave, estranged for many years, connect again when their older brother unexpectedly dies and they both receive emails saying he was murdered. When they return to their remote family-run resort to investigate, Laser provides a range of characterizations with delightful Northwoods accents. Her depiction of an intellectually challenged old friend is charming and respectful. The siblings, resentful beach boy Gave and driven entrepreneur Liv, are believably portrayed by Laser as they discover surprises and lies at the camp--and in their own family history.
