L.J. Ganser gives a superb performance of this true account of how five shipwrecked sailors, three British and two American, survived on the Falkland Islands for 18 months during the War of 1812. Dolin's work is amazingly detailed with all things Falkland--history, flora, fauna, oceanography, meteorology--and he makes all of it interesting and engaging. He gives spellbinding accounts of the personal conflicts, ingenuity, and eventual triumph of these castaways as they are eventually rescued and returned to their native countries. Ganser has an engaging conversational style that pulls the listener in from the first word.
