You don't have to be familiar with the Beryl and Edwina Mystery series to enjoy Barbara Rosenblat's narrative gifts in this latest installment. Beryl and Edwina are hired to expose the Dinsdales, fraudulent new residents who are offering "seances." When the body of the former church organist appears where the medium's "spirit guide" is supposed to reside, things heat up. Rosenblat has a special talent for revealing each character's personality through their voice. Beryl, an American adventuress, sounds confident and encouraging, especially when she pushes Edwina to be more forceful. Rosenblat captures Edwina's increasing confidence as she considers and clears several suspects.
