It's great fun to listen to Andi Arndt switching from one accent or vocal register to another. She is skillful and generous, calling no attention to herself, leaving all your focus on this first-person narrative, a tale told by an obsessive young woman named Hannah who pursues a man accused of murdering four women much like herself. First-person narratives are claustrophobic by their nature, and it helps if the central character is distinctive, wise, funny, or otherwise good company. If, as in this case, she is not, the actor is all-important. Hannah is in a situation that compels attention, and even though you'll see the twists coming, Arndt keeps the pace steady and the listener intently hoping for a happy outcome.
