Genevieve Gaunt narrates this genre-defying surreal novel about art, artists, and relationships. Her genteel English accent fits the prose, which evokes a mood of elite European salon communities. Gaunt's pacing is slow, giving listeners needed time to absorb the disorienting introspective narrative, which frequently switches from the first to the third person. Main characters are artists in various locales and times; all are named G. Whether there is a connection between them is unclear. Other characters are simply nameless. Gaunt presents the characters' ruminations on art and relationships in a dreamlike manner; however, following their connections is difficult. Scant dialogue places the listener primarily in the musings of unknown protagonists. Nonetheless, patient, attentive listeners will be rewarded with much to ponder.
