Anyone can have a bad day, but Jenny's bad day is exceptional in this audiobook. Beth Eyre's sweet, lilting voice is ideal as she portrays the young, single mother whose hard-won, modest, and independent lifestyle is in jeopardy, thanks to a series of unfortunate developments. Eyre offers excellent pacing, and her comic timing suits Jenny well, especially in her conversations with her teenage son. The vocal development of Luke, Jenny's love interest, is less convincing, but not a distraction. When Jenny and her son take to England's byways in an RV, their adventure is packed with scenery and self-discovery. While there are both predictable turns and unlikely twists, the audiobook is ultimately a rewarding listen with some real moments to treasure.
