THE MYSTERIOUS MRS. NIXON The Life and Times of Washington's Most Private First Lady

by | Read by Jane Oppenheimer

Biography & Memoir • 14 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2024

Lee's well-researched portrait of Thelma Catherine "Pat" Nixon is a delightful and informative experience brought to life by narrator Jane Oppenheimer. Oppenheimer's slightly hoarse timbre and intimate tone suit the intelligent, reserved, and poised former First Lady of the United States. President Richard Nixon certainly gets his due in this audiobook, and, happily, the material involving him is not shaded in either the text or audibly. Pat's strenuous preference for as near complete privacy as a political partner of a President can find contributes to the (perhaps misleading) use of the word "mysterious" in the title. Of particular interest are Pat's parents--the Ryans. Their pioneering roots reflect the evolution of America's western states. W.A.G. © AudioFile 2024, Portland, Maine [Published: SEPTEMBER 2024]
