Narrator Brittany Pressley gives energy to a bizarre midlife crisis in this refreshing horror audiobook. Pressley skillfully portrays Sloane Parker, who is the voice of indifference as she approaches her 40s. When Sloane's unfaithful husband gives her a resort weekend getaway with her wild best friend, Naomi, Sloane's future begins to, well, bite--not to give too much away. Harrison's novel supplies much for Pressley to chew on, especially the necessary accents of the multinational troupe that becomes Sloane and Naomi's new "family." Pressley also captures the snark that is the main ingredient of the best friends' conversations. Pressley's vocal talents ensure that listeners are willing to suspend disbelief as the story depicts Sloane and Naomi's strange new lives.
