PASSIONS IN DEATH In Death, Book 59

Narrator Susan Ericksen once again takes the listener through a murder investigation led by Lt. Eve Dallas in New York City in the year 2061. Dallas is called to a club where a young bride-to-be has been murdered at her bachelorette party. Assisting Eve is her partner, Peabody. Ericksen does an excellent job contrasting Dallas's calm determination with Peabody's more youthful eagerness. Dallas is married to an Irish billionaire named Roarke, whom Ericksen endows with just the right touch of an Irish lilt. Ericksen adds dimension to her portrayals of the secondary characters, who range from the stuffy Somerset, Roarke's majordomo, to childish Bella, Dallas's friend's young daughter, and calm Dr. Mira, the department's psychologist.
