Andy Carpenter's plans for a quiet holiday season are interrupted when a rescue dog he once placed with a local family shows up at his front door. Grover Gardner reprises his portrayal of the curmudgeonly lawyer as he returns the pooch to its family, only to discover that the dog's young owner has been arrested for murdering his college professor. Gardner voices Andy's characteristic reluctance--he's supposed to be retired!--to defend the young man. Andy's wife, who is a former cop, and other sidekicks, as unflappable and committed to justice as always, are portrayed in Gardner's mostly straight narration. Most entertaining is Gardner's voice for Andy, a grumbler with a soft spot for unjustly accused people and the world's entire canine population.
