THE WILD HUNTRESS

Moira Quirk confidently pronounces Welsh words as she narrates this fantasy. In a land filled with magical monsters, hunters compete during the Wild Hunt to earn a prize from the immortal king. Royal Gwydion hopes to keep his cruel brother from the throne and teams up with quick-witted commoner Branwen and kind Prince Pryderi. As Quirk narrates, monsters speak with hissing tones, and Branwen's voice is often dry with sarcasm. The three main characters become gentle with each other as they grow closer. Quirk's pace increases during suspenseful scenes, and fluctuating volume belies the characters' anger and sadness as they experience grief.
