THE GARDENER'S PLOT

Narrator Patricia Santomasso captures Maggie's turmoil when she discovers a dead body with a boot tied to it buried in her hometown's community garden. The amateur sleuth has just moved back to Marlowe, Massachusetts. In this award-winning debut mystery, Maggie is at least one step ahead of the local police, who want her to stay out of their investigation, which of course she doesn't do. Santomasso builds tension as Maggie hunts for the killer and transitions to a lighter tone and rhythm for humorous moments.
