ROSARITA

With her graceful voice, narrator Meera Simhan shares this short story of self-discovery and secrets. Bonita, a young lady from India who studies Spanish in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, has her world turned upside down when an elderly woman approaches her, claiming to have known her mother. To Bonita's recollection, her mother never traveled to Mexico, let alone studied art, as the woman claims. While Bonita attempts to shrug her off, she can't help but feel drawn to her and what she may learn about her mother. With vocal agility Simhan deftly shifts her tone and accent to realistically narrate diverse characters. Simhan's strength lies in narrating emotionally fraught passages that will move listeners.
