DECEIVED BY THE LIGHT DI Bob Willis, Book 1

by | Read by Nicholas Boulton

Mystery & Suspense • 9.25 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2025

Narrator Nicholas Boulton brings Detective Bob Willis to life perfectly. Set in the west of England in 1985, this story finds Bob on sick leave, facing forced retirement and battling self-recrimination following the murder of his partner. As the story is told in the first person, the listener feels increasingly drawn into it. Boulton's rich West Country accent mirrors the setting. He also captures the sad yet rebellious character of Bob, who's prepared to bend the rules to uncover the truth about the death of his partner. Boulton's talent for characterization shines, especially his dialogue, for which he creates a variety of accents and gently delivered humor. His timing is spot-on, allowing the tension to build as the plot unfolds. K.J.P. © AudioFile 2025, Portland, Maine [Published: FEBRUARY 2025]
