With its prelude of wondrous music, this collection of 12 short stories is capably narrated by Adam Ewer and Blair Baker. Both narrators use dramatic effect--well-considered pauses and distinctive vocal characterizations--to complement the stories in the audio format. Ewer's narration is relatable, approachable, and well paced, while Baker's, in turn, is temperate but with enough modulation to hold the listener's interest. Some of the stories sound a bit underdeveloped or abrupt, in part due to the compressed format of the genre. But several standouts include "The Piano," "Save Me, Stranger," "I Feel Like I Could Stand Here with You All Night," and "It Would Be the Worst Night of My Life."
