Robert Solomon's series of 24 lectures on the nature of emotions and varying philosophical insights regarding them is both informative and enjoyable. An experienced lecturer, Solomon explains the points of view of philosophers from Aristotle to Heidegger. He illustrates his explanations with observations of daily life and popular culture, showing the links between topics as diverse as puppies, the television show "Dallas," and computers. His delivery, not overly dramatic, stays within a narrow range. However, his pacing allows listeners time to digest difficult concepts.
