GREEK GODS AND GODDESSES

Previous exposure to the wealth of characters in Greek mythology will set the stage for the enjoyment of this recording. Geraldine McCaughrean selects a potpourri of stories touching on the familiar, such as Phaeton's precarious journey across the sky and Persephone's travels to change the seasons, and the less familiar, such as the forges of Hephaestus and the prophecies of Cassandra. Andrew Sachs's reading raises this recording from the ordinary to the spectacular. There is depth, richness and smoothness in his presentation as he articulates the personalities of Mount Olympus with vocal differentiation. The ebb and flow of the stories are accented by Sachs's modulation of speed, and the melodiousness of his voice leaves the listener eager for more!
