HOW GOOD PEOPLE MAKE TOUGH CHOICES

Kidder's view of how ethical people make the right decisions is thought-provoking and well considered. Ethical dilemmas are expressed in terms of paradigms: truth vs. loyalty, justice vs. mercy, long-term vs. short-term and the individual vs.the community. In these situations, one is forced to make bold, right choices; both choices are ethical, but one must be chosen above the other. Kidder presents his observations in a compelling narrative voice, which gives the listener the feeling of having a discussion with a valued friend. The listener is encouraged to consider these points within a personal context and will almost certainly give more thought to the process of ethical decision-making after hearing this.
