MARY MODERN

In this genre-bending novel inspired by Mary Shelley's FRANKENSTEIN, Lucy Morrigan, a young geneticist, lacks love, fame, and a child. She remedies the situation with a bit of genetic engineering and the help of her lover. Astoundingly, she births her own grandmother, Mary, who comes into the world as a confused 22-year-old. Jenna Lamia varies her tones to convey the personalities of the three main characters. The production is full of twists and surprising perspectives. These are made clearer by the additional readers. Mara Lawler's delivery of time and date move the story along. Eric Conger's inserts from "Everyday Life in the Twentieth Century" provide helpful explanations for Mary and humor for listeners.
