THE IMAGINARY INVALID

by | Read by The Actors' Gang

Poetry & Drama • 2 hrs. • Audio Program • © 1998

There’s no doubt that Molière, a stellar playwright and social commentator, is as relevant today as he was in the seventeenth century, when this, his last play, was written. This L.A. Theatre Works production is delivered with all the gusto that Molière's satire on the medical profession deserves. This production is first-rate in every way. The performances by the actors are lively, energetic, and completely insincere—as required by Molière. There are no attempts at authentic accents, but that only serves to heighten the humor. One cannot help but imagine how silly all the characters must look. Thoroughly entertaining. M.R.E. © AudioFile 2008, Portland, Maine [Published: APR/ MAY 08]
